Common Mistakes

  • Going zero-joint. Butting tiles leaves no drainage path, guarantees lippage somewhere in the field, and gives grout nothing to fill — the joint exists for engineering reasons before aesthetic ones.
  • One spacer size for every batch. Tiles vary between batches; dry-fit a few rows of each new lot before assuming yesterday's spacer still works.
